We use both point-to-point and middleware-based integration for our EAI services. Point-to-point integration is used to integrate a limited number of systems into two to three. However, for integrating a larger number of systems, point-to-point integration becomes cumbersome and nonviable. Therefore, middleware-based integration is a more suitable choice for a larger number of systems. Middleware provides generic interfaces through which all integrated applications can pass messages to each other. Each interface defines a business process provided by an application.
